Design of an I/O Balancing File System on Web Server Clusters
نویسندگان
چکیده
The paper presents the design of an I/O balancing file system on Web server clusters. High-speed networks allow machines to access remote data nearly as quickly as they can access local data. This trend motivates the introduction of I/O balancing mechanism into cluster file systems. Two effective approaches are issued in the paper: file migration and unique cache. The former is to migrate the files from congested nodes to those uncongested ones to balance the I/O load among the cluster system. And the latter is to integrate the memory and disk cache to form a global memory-disk file cache. It extracts the ideas of cooperative cache and file replication to improve the file system performance. Also unique cache balances the I/O load in file cache level. We can conclude that TH-CluFS is a suitable file system for Web server cluster.

Load Balancing Approaches for Web Servers: A Survey of Recent Trends
Numerous works has been done for load balancing of web servers in grid environment. Reason behinds popularity of grid environment is to allow accessing distributed resources which are located at remote locations. For effective utilization, load must be balanced among all resources. Importance of load balancing is discussed by distinguishing the system between without load balancing and with loa...
متن کاملA Low Cost Two-Tier Architecture Model For High Availability Clusters Application Load Balancing
This article proposes a design and implementation of a low cost two-tier architecture model for high availability cluster combined with load-balancing and shared storage technology to achieve desired scale of three-tier architecture for application load balancing e.g. web servers. The research work proposes a design that physically omits Network File System (NFS) server nodes and implements NFS...
متن کاملTidyFS: A Simple and Small Distributed File System
In recent years, there has been an explosion of interest in computing using clusters of commodity, shared nothing computers. In this paper, we describe the design of TidyFS, a simple and small distributed file system that provides the abstractions necessary for data parallel computations on clusters. Similar to other large-scale distributed file systems such as the Google File System (GFS) and ...
متن کاملAllocation with Neural Networks
Internet traffic has doubled almost every year since 1997, a growth rate set to continue for some time.1 To maintain quality of service, some heavily trafficked Web sites use multiple servers, which share information through a shared file system or data space. The Andrews file system (AFS) and distributed file system (DFS), for example, can facilitate this sharing. In other sites, each server m...
متن کاملEfficient Server Load Balancing through Improved Server Health Report
To achieve scalability and high availability of the service offered by web server clusters, an efficient server load balancing policy is required. A critical part of the load balancing policy is to find the best available server to assign the load. For that, server load needs to be calculated. In this paper, the parameters required to assess the load of the server are explored. An important loa...
